Alan H. Green (Coalhouse Walker, Jr.) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Alan recently finished the workshop of Fangs (dir. Diane Paulus - Donkey Show). Prior to that he was a finalist on Ed McMahon's Next Big Star. Last summer he performed at the Bay Street Theatre in Hair (Hud). Alan was seen in the first national tour of Swing! starring opposite Ann Crumb. Broadway: Play On (Duke, Sweets, Rev.) Ann Van Cleave (Mother) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Ann's Broadway credits include: Cyrano, Showboat, Ragtime, Kiss Me Kate and A Class Act. Ann also toured the U.S. and Canada in the national tour of Showboat as Ellie! She was also featured in the pre- Broadway original workshops of A Christmas Carol, Footloose, and Big. Ann has been a featured soloist with the Dayton and New Haven Symphony Orchestras and has starred in numerous roles in theaters across the country. Ann and husband Carroll have two sons together, Connor - 7 and Taylor -2. For you Mom and Dad, with love and thanks.
Joel Briel (Tateh) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: A veteran of the B'way cast of Cats, Joel has performed off-B'way in That's Life! , off-off-B'way in Bearded Iris, and on the NY cabaret scene with his original shows Pointe of No Return, On a Clear Day You Can Hear the 60's, and Golden Age of the Silver Screen. Other credits include Merrily We Roll Along (w/ Stephen Sondheim); Fiddler on the Roof (w/ Theodore Bikel); title roles in Sunday in the Park with George, Jesus Christ Superstar and Pippin; lead characters in Evita, Hair, Little Shop of Horrors, My Fair Lady, Mystery of Edwin Drood, A Funny Thing.... Nikki Renée Daniels (Sarah) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Nikki recently made her New York City Opera debut as Clara in Porgy and Bess. Broadway: Aida (Nehebka). Regional: Annie (Star-to-Be) at the St. Louis MUNY and Kansas City Starlight. She has also performed with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Atlanta's Theatre of the Stars and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (B.F.A. Musical Theatre). This one's for Mom and Dad.
Joseph Dellger (Father) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Joseph has performed this role on Broadway, as well as in Chicago. Recently, he was played Officer Hanke in the new musical The Visit, with Chita Rivera. Mr. Dellger also played Monsieur Andre in The Phantom of The Opera in San Francisco, where he frequently had the opportunity to perform the role of the Phantom. He was the Padre in Goodspeed's 25th anniversary production of Man Of La Mancha. Other credits include Footloose (Reverend Shaw), Merrily We Roll Along (Franklin Shepard) and 110° in the Shade (Noah). In his free time, he enjoys woodworking and hiking.
Perry Ojeda (Younger Brother) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Broadway credits include le On the Town, Blood Brothers and Babes in Arms (ENCORES!) Perry originated the role of Marco in Dolly West's Kitchen at The National Theatre of Ireland and in London's West End. He has worked at Arena Stage, Cleveland Playhouse, Dallas Theatre Center, GeVa Theater, Goodspeed Opera House, New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, St. Louis MUNY and York Theater among others. Television credits include All My Children, Guiding Light and The Day Lincoln Was Shot. Perry is a graduate of the University of Michigan Musical Theater Program and Interlochen Arts Academy. Upcoming roles include Fiddler on the Roof (Perchik)at Pittsburgh CLO and the premiere of Nora Ephron's play Imaginary Friends.
Jimmy Dieffenbach (Little Boy) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Jimmy is thrilled to join the cast of Ragtime. His credits include Oliver! (Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center), The King and 1, The Velveteen Rabbit, and High Flying Flag. A fifth grader from Pleasantville, N.Y., Jimmy has sung with the Westchester All-County Elementary Chorus, the Westchester Boys Choir and is a member of his church choir. He is active in many sports and plays the piano and the saxophone in his school band. Thanks to Nancy Carson, Amelia DeMayo, and all of his family, friends and teacher for their support. Jimmy would like to dedicate his performance to his brother Mathew, and sisters; Rosie, Megan, and Emily.
Carolina Konopka (Little Girl) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Carolina, born in Rome, Italy 8 years ago, began modeling at the age of 4. Her credits include Vogue Bambini, United Colors of Benetton and plays at the AMDA school. A 3rd grader at P.S 87 in N.Y.C, she speaks 3 languages: English, Italian, and Spanish. Thanks to her vocal teachers Rona Leslie and Albin Konopka (my silly Daddy) and a special thanks to my mamma (Omella), who is always with me. Love to my ‘Nonno' and ‘Abuelita'.
Jeff Cyronik (J.P. Morgan, Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Jeff is thrilled to be a part of the Regional Premiere of Ragtime at NSMT, having performed the role in the National Tour. Other credits include Harold Prince's Showboat, both the national tour, with Cloris Leachman and Len Cariou, and in London with George Grizzard. Regional credits include in Chess (Motokov), Sweeney Todd (Sweeney), La Cage Aux Folles (Georges) and Hamlet (Claudius). He dedicates his performance to his grandparents who immigrated through Ellis Island from Poland and Bohemia.
Roger DeWitt (Henry Ford, Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: most recently originated the role of Leonardo Davinci in the world premier production and cast album of 3hree directed by Harold Prince. Prior to that he spent nearly six years on the road with Phantom of the Opera (Andre) and Jekyll and Hyde (Bishop). His film and TV credits include The Jetsons, The Snorks, Law and Order, Glory, Heidi's Song etc... Roger is also a Life Coach -www.LifeArtistryCoaching.com and www.rogerdewitt.com. Roger hails from a performing family his mother was the original and only Wilma and Pebbles Flintstone for 40 years. This one is for Brad and Buddy!!

Shannon Hastings (Evelyn Nesbit, Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Shannon has just returned from the national tour of Ragtime where she played Evelyn Nesbit. Other tour highlights include Grease! (Sandy), starring Cindy Williams and Eddie Mekka, Cinderella, Jekyll and Hyde and Kiss Me Kate. Television highlights include All My Children, Entertainment Tonight and The Conan O'Brien Show. Shannon was honored to represent New Hampshire in the Miss America Pageant. Justin Lee Miller (Booker T. Washington, Ensemble) WITH NSMT: The Student Prince ELSEWHERE: Justin is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan's Musical Theatre Department. Roles there include Jake in Side Show and The Poet in Kismet. Professional credits include El Gallo in The Fantastiks at the Fredonia Opera House and Ed Bishop in Floyd Collins at the Weston Playhouse in Vermont. Recently Justin performed in the national tour of Strike Up The Band directed by Martin Charnin.
Tracey Moore (Emma Goldman, Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Tracey performed the role of Emma Goldman with the National Tour of Ragtime. She also toured nationally in Camelot, with Richard Harris, and originated the role of Mary Magdalene in the pre-Broadway company of Kevorkian Café. Off- Broadway she appeared in Señor Discretion and I Will Come Back. Next month she goes to the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma to play Mama Rose in Gypsy. Tracey has her own CD on the Original Cast Records label that features new musical theatre songs. Thanks to Stafford, David, and NSMT.
Edward M. Barker (Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Last fall Edward appeared in A Christmas Carol and Floyd Collins, both at Actors Theatre of Louisville. Other credits include A New Brain at Portland Center Stage, Jesus Christ Superstar at Saint Michael's Playhouse in Vermont, and three seasons with Weathervane Repertory Theatre in New Hampshire. He is no stranger to the Massachusetts area, having played Fred in the 1997 tour of Nebraska Theatre Caravan's, A Christmas Carol at the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford.
Stephen Brockway (Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Originally from Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Stephen's credits include Doody in Grease (National Tour), Tony in West Side Story, and the title roles in Sunday in the Park with George and Pippin. Film: A Beautiful Mind. Stephen has a BM in Musical Theatre from Baldwin Wallace and Conservatory of Music. Thanks to God for His many blessings.
LaToya D. Brown (Ensemble, Pas de Deux) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: LaToya has appeared in the National Tour of Ragtime. Other credits include Rugrats (national tour), I Didn't Know That at Syracuse Stage, No Strings, The Good Times Are Killing Me and A Chorus Line. TV & Film credits include Vibe, Take a Moment (choreographer, featured dancer), Sex in the City and Guiding Light. LaToya is thrilled to be performing in her "favorite show" and sends her love to her family, her sweetheart Ben and her dog, Brogan!
Paul David Bryant (Ensemble, Pas de Deux) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Paul is very excited about making his NSMT debut in one of his favorite shows, Ragtime, in which he toured the US and parts of Canada for three and a half years. An east coast actor gone west, Paul now resides in southern California. Paul has played roles from Paul Robeson in Paul Robeson Willie the cook (in which Joshua Logan, himself, wrote the part in just for Paul) in Mr. Roberts staring Martin Sheen, Smokey Joe's cafe with Jennifer Holliday in Hawaii, and many more. Grateful to be working in this business, Paul say's "Without him nothing is possible. With him all things are."
Kathy Calahan (Bridgit, Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: This is Kathy's second production of Ragtime, having completed the last national tour. Favorite regional credits: Maggie in A Chorus Line, Gloria in Damn Yankees, Susan in Finian's Rainbow, Virginia in Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?, and Sister Leo in Nunsense. She originated the role of Kathy in the Irving Berlin musical The Melody Lingers On. Kathy thanks her family and especially her new husband Charlie for their continued love and support.
Dioni Michelle Collins (Funeral Soloist, Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: This singer/ songwriter hails from Sanfrancisco, CA. Broadway: Ragtime (original cast). National Tours: Ragtime, Fame: the Musical (Mable). Edwardyne Cowan (Kathleen, Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Showboat ELSEWHERE: Edwardyne has appeared in the Ragtime tour. Prior to that, she appeared off-Broadway in Fermat's Last Tango (York Theatre), which had an audio and video recording produced and released by The Clay Mathematics Institute. She starred opposite Richard Chamberlain as Eliza in the European tour of My Fair Lady, a role she also played on Broadway and on the US tour. She is married to actor Tim Bennett and is the mother of twin daughters Violet and Kathryn.
Craig Davenport (Willie Conklin) WITH NSMT: Debut ELSEWHERE: Craig has performed before audiences all over North America and Europe. Recently he has been seen in the North American B&T tours of Camelot as King Arthur (Troika), Phantom as Ledoux, Buddy as Hipockets (Phoenix) and Christmas Carol as Bob Cratchit (NTC). Regional roles include: Sir Walter Raleigh in The Lost Colony, Neville Craven in Secret Garden and Miles Gloriosus in Forum. He has also been seen on TV in Dawson's Creek.
Dick Deceareau (Grandfather) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: NY credits include Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Captain's Courageous, and Raggedy Ann. On tour, Ragtime (2 years) and Annie (3 Years!). Dick has done commercials, daytime drama and is featured on the cast album of Blondes. Dick has performed regionally all over the country. Favorite roles include Za Za (La Cage Aux Folles), Parchester (Me And My Girl), Smee (Peter Pan), Moonface (Anything Goes), Brian (Laughter on the 23rd Floor), Bert (42nd Street) and Ozzie (Scarlet Pimpernel). Dick is from Lynn, and a graduate of Salem State College. There's more but alas, that's all there's room for.
Antoinette DiPietropolo (Ensemble, Dance Captain) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Ragtime, Rent, Annie, Hair. Choreographer: Music Man. Antoinette is happy to be making her North Shore debut with Ragtime. She was the assistant choreographer for the National Tour of Ragtime (Networks) Most recently, Antoinette played the role of "Lizzie" in Baby (SJPAC) Her next exciting role will be in her own wedding as Dan Tonden's bride.
Debra Thaïs Evans (Sarah's Friend, Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Debra is an emerging soprano in the worlds of both opera and musical theatre. Based in NYC, she has performed in Europe and the United States. Some recent operatic credits include Madame Butterfly (Butterfly) and Suor Angelica (Angelica) at Mannes College of Music. Ms. Evans was also seen last season in Northern Stage's production of Big River. She would like to thank her family and friends for their love and support. Mom, I Love You!
Chad Hudson (Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Chad is thrilled to make his NSMT with Ragtime. Some of Chad's favorite credits include Dickon in The Secret Garden at Paper Mill Playhouse, Candide in Candide at the Weston Playhouse, Tobias in Sweeney Todd at the Pittsburgh Public and numerous productions of Forever Plaid playing both Jinx and Sparky. Additionally, Chad has toured the country with Robert Goulet in Camelot and performed with Symphonies from Cincinnati Ohio to Seoul Korea. Janice Lorraine (Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Born in Washington D.C., Janice makes her home in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Todd L. Underwood (Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Todd just recently finished the national tour of Cinderella starring Eartha Kitt. He has also toured with Showboat, Big, Damn Yankees, and Blackbirds of Broadway. His is also an accomplished choreographer. He is thrilled to be in the production of Ragtime. Richard E. Waits (Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Richard hails from Buffalo, NY. Mr, Waits started his career "Some 20 years ago" in a television commercial with the legendary Ginger Rogers, he played one of "Her Boys." The Journey has been long and diverse. Shows: Dreamgirls (Broadway 20th Anniversary Concert), Ain't Misbehavin' (Amsterdam), La Cage Aux Folles (Paris), Beach Blanket Babylon (San Francisco). Samantha Goober (Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Honk! Jr. A Christmas Carol 2000, NSMT's Children's Choir. ELSEWHERE: Samantha recently played the Ghost of Christmas Past in A Christmas Carol at Stoneham Theatre. She has also played Baby June in Gyspy at The Publick Theatre, and Fiddlehead Theatre. She was in the ensemble in David at the Emerson Majestic Theatre. Samantha is a third grader in Burlington, MA.
Eric Murray (Ensemble) WITH NSMT: Carousel, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, A Christmas Carol ‘01 ELSEWHERE: Eric is extremely excited to be back at NSMT after performing in three shows last season. Candace Jennings (Choreographer) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: For seven years Candace toured Canada and the United States as the Associate and Resident Director of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring Donny Osmond. She was also Associate Resident Director of Sunset Boulevard starring Diahann Carol. Candace had the pleasure of working on the First National Tour of the award winning musical Ragtime directed by Frank Galati and choreographed by Graciela Daniele. Some highlights of Candace's career include: Adventures in Babysitting with Elisabeth Shue, The Miss Piggy Show with Jim Henson, Friday the 13th - The Series, Stepping Out with Liza Minnelli, and The Liberace Show in Las Vegas. Most recently, Candace choreographed the Networks National Tour of Ragtime. She is very pleased to be involved with this wonderful production of Ragtime.
Mark McLaren (Music Director) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Mr. McLaren conducted the national tours of Titanic, Cats, and The Phantom of the Opera, appearing in Boston with all three productions. He conducted the Broadway production of Cats from 1996-1999 and on June 19, 1997 he conducted the gala 6,138th performance making the production the longest running in Broadway history. Mr. McLaren was assistant conductor for this season's New Jersey Ballet production of The Nutcracker and in March conducted the Rochester Philharmonic, marking his third appearance with the orchestra. Mr. McLaren has conducted for Boston College, Columbia University, University of Scranton, and Boston University where he was the recipient of the Mr. McLaren 2000 Young Alumni Award for career achievement. Mr. McLaren has studied with Max Miller, Steve Lipsitt and Gary Fagin, all to whom he is eternally grateful.
Dex Edwards (Scenic Designer) WITH NSMT: Miss Saigon, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat , Fiddler On The Roof, A Little Night Music, My Fair Lady, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way To the Forum and Little Me ELSEWHERE: Dex's design work has been seen in theatres internationally including the Long Wharf Theatre, Milwaukee Rep., The Majestic Theatre (Brooklyn Academy of Music), Indiana Rep., Sacramento Rep., Alliance Theatre Co., Virginia Stage Co., Georgia Shakespeare Festival, Merrimack Rep. Theatre, Drury Lane, Oak Brook Theatre (Chicago), Queens Mill and Winter Garden Theatres (Ontario) and the Berlin Opera House. Dex designed the world premiere Jimmy Buffet/Herman Wouk musical Don't Stop the Carnival (Coconut Grove Playhouse) and was the recipient of Chicago's Joseph Jefferson Award in Scenic Design for his work on Comedy of Errors and the 2001 IRNE award for his work on Miss Saigon. Dex was part of the concept design team for the Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta. Dex designed Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus currently running in Las Vegas.
Jack Mehler (Lighting Designer) WITH NSMT: A Little Night Music '00, Children of Eden ‘97 ELSEWHERE: Productions have included High Infidelity with Morgan Fairchild and John Davidson, In A Different Light for Donald Byrd/The Group, Noises Off and Deathtrap at Papermill Playhouse, Table Top for the Working Theatre and The Front Page at Merrimack Rep. Other credits include: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club, Theatre by the Blind, WPA, Body Politic, Capital Rep. Cleveland Playhouse, Crossroads Theatre, Freedom Theatre, Mask and Wig, Seacoast Rep., Seattle Rep., Stage 1 (Wichita), Syracuse Stage, and Trollwood Performing Arts School Mr. Mehler is a Creative Associate of the CPR Group.
Gerard Kelley (Wig Designer) WITH NSMT: Fiddler on the Roof, Carousel, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Zorba ELSEWHERE: Gerard has spent 3 seasons designing for The Lake Tahoo Shakespeare Festival. His New York City credits include, N.Y.U, The Illyria Theatre, The Joseph Papp Public Theater, The Soho Playhouse, The Signature Theater Company and The Jewish Repertory Theater. In Philadelphia Gerard has designed extensively for The Walnut St Theater and The New Freedom Theater. Other regional credits include The Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center, San Diego Repertory Theater, The Sacramento Theater Company, The Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Geva Theater, Theater Works in San Francisco, The Northern Stage Company, The Carousel Dinner, and The Westchester Broadway Theater.
John A. Stone (Sound Designer) WITH NSMT: Co-designed A Midsummer Night's Dream (1996), designed A Grand Night for Singing and the 1997- 2001 Shakespeare production and musical seasons. ELSEWHERE: John received his bachelor's degree in physics and music at St. Lawrence University. He came to NSMT as an intern in 1995 and is now the sound supervisor and resident designer. John has also designed Bed and Sofa, The Fever, and Mere Mortals for the Nora Theatre Company in Cambridge. In his recent "spare time" he started Addison Audio, an equipment rental and design business intended to provide services to many area schools and organizations. He would like to thank Nancy and Dalya for their continued love and support.
David Wolfson (Orchestra Reductions) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: David Wolfson's orchestration reduction credits include the first authorized reductions of The Threepenny Opera and the Opera House version of Candide. Last fall he was Assistant Music Director for the Goodman Theatre's production of Kander & Ebb's The Visit, he is currently serving as music director of the Prince Music Theater's production of Adam Guettel's Myths and Hymns. As a composer, his series of revues for children, Story Salad, toured nationally for 14 years.
Joseph M. Dempsey (Stage Manager) WITH NSMT: Debut. ELSEWHERE: Joe is excited to be making his debut with North Shore. He feels the support and strength of its staff and thanks everyone at NSMT for their hard work on Ragtime. Previous credits include: Blood Brothers, Firecracker with Michael Mao Dance, Cinderella, La Cage aux Folles, Kiss Me Kate, Chess, Gypsy with Joanne Worley, 37 Postcards at Hudson Stage Co., Street Scene, Ariadne aux Naxos, La Rondine, Magic Flute, La Boheme, Don Carlos, Owen Wingrave and a couple more. Jon Kimbell (Artistic Director / Executive Producer) Mr. Kimbell is the recipient of the New England Theatre Conference Award for Outstanding Achievement in the American Theatre, Salem State College's Lifetime Achievement Award, and the 38th Annual Moss Hart Award for NSMT's adaptation of A Christmas Carol. During his 20 seasons at NSMT, he, in partnership with a dedicated Board of Trustees and a superior staff, has turned NSMT into one of the finest musical theaters in the country. His responsibilities include artistic direction, long range planning, and development of new musical works with Associate Producer John La Rock. He has directed or produced most musicals, the Shakespeare canon, and, as a passionate believer in developing new musicals, the premieres of 21 new musicals. Mr. Kimbell is a founding member of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre and recently served as a panelist for the NEA's Access and Musical Theater Panels, the New Hampshire Commission on the Arts, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and the Ohio Arts Council.
James K. Polese (Executive Director) NSMT's Chief Operating Officer since 1983, Mr. Polese oversees all fiscal and administrative operations. He is the key negotiator for the Music Theatre's successful Celebrity Concert and Children's Musicals series. Outside of NSMT, Mr. Polese has served a term as the president of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) after serving one term as Secretary and as a member of the Finance and Development committees for four years. He served on the NEA's Theater and Musical Theater Creation and Presentation Panel. In the community, Mr. Polese is a member of the corporation of Beverly Hospital; a member of the Executive Committee and a Trustee of the Essex National Heritage Commission; serves on the Capital Campaign Advisory Committee of the Center for Addictive Behaviors; has recently been elected to the board of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Polese is committed to providing education, cultural activities and access for all members of the community.
